Communications Assistant
The Communications Assistant will research, write, and edit communications as assigned to highlight the work of the department. Collaborating with staff and campus partners, the candidate will implement internal and external communications campaigns and messaging about upcoming events, performance milestones, and other important information.
This role will also assist in promotional and outreach efforts using various internal and external communications channels while adhering to University standards. The Communications Assistant will assist with managing website content and social media channels, ensuring web and social media pages are current and adhere to the University’s digital accessibility standards. The position will also support the specific work of the Hiring/Events/Colloquia committee.
Responsibilities
- Event support; set up & clean up; basic tech support; photography – availability on Thursday afternoons and evenings.
- Capacity to design, print and post posters/publicize events.
- Update, manage and maintain the departmental website and social media accounts.
- Design and generate content for and oversee the dissemination of the quarterly departmental newsletter.
- Identify and expand the target audience for RDI news and events.
- Identify and implement strategies for communicating and growing various RDI stakeholders in and outside the University community.
- Data entry; populate and moderate RDI listservs; send events communications using listservs.
- Provide general office support stocking copier, and maintain office supplies.
- Gathers and disseminates information designed to keep the public informed of the organization’s programs, accomplishments, or point of view, with moderate to high levels of guidance and direction.
- Continues to build knowledge of the University, processes and customers.
- Performs other related work as needed.
